St. Francis Hospital

Healthcare facilities require special attention to indoor environmental quality (IEQ) to ensure the safety of its patients and healthcare workers against hospital acquired (nosocomial) infections and occupational diseases. The assessment of IEQ risks to building occupants has become a complex and challenging issue for hospital owners and facility managers. Advanced measurement and control technologies are being developed and deployed to better manage IEQ in critical and semi-critical areas within healthcare facilities.  The Aircuity OptiNet system is one such technology utilized by St. Francis Hospital in central Connecticut

Saint Francis Hospital

St. Francis Hospital, a teaching hospital located in Hartford Connecticut is one of the three main trauma centers and for central Connecticut.  In 2011 the hospital opened the new 318,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, John T O’Connell tower which doubled the floor space for their Emergency Department and was designed as a “green” medical center.  To balance their “green” initiatives with healthy IEQ, St. Francis installed the Aircuity OptiNet system in critical areas such as Operating Rooms, to provide continuous accurate monitoring of temperature, humidity, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), and particulate levels.  OptiNet, coupled with the Aircuity Advisor services, provides data collection, trending and on-line reporting to reassure medical staff that the air quality is maintained above and beyond levels that promotes a healthy and healing environment.
