Aircuity Congratulates Texas Children’s Hospital on Receiving the TurnKey Facility of the Year Award

State of the Art Vivarium Facility Recognized for its Outstanding Design and Construction

Aircuity, the smart airside efficiency company, today announced that its customer Texas Children’s Hospital has won the TurnKey Facility of the Year Award, presented at the TurnKey Conference in Baltimore, MD . The Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital, a LEED Gold facility, was selected for its outstanding achievements in the design and construction of their animal laboratory.

Completed in December 2010, the 13-story, Neurological Research Institute facility houses 20 principal investigators leading multi-disciplinary teams of 185 scientists and includes two levels of energy efficient animal care facilities. The 25,000 square foot vivarium space consolidates the occupancies for Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine into a centralized location. Aircuity’s DCV technology both enhances the indoor environmental quality and saves Texas Children’s Hospital an estimated $221,000 annually. Aircuity’s energy efficiency solutions have also helped the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute to achieve LEED Gold certification.

“The Neurological Research Institute was built to bring a collaborative group of scientists together under one roof to make greater strides in addressing pediatric neurological disorders”, explained Jill Pearsall, director facilities planning & development at Texas Children’s Hospital. “Facilities have become as complex as the research that goes on within them. Putting together the right team and aligning them with the same vision and goals is critical to the success of a project and the environments created by it for years to come. Having specialists like Aircuity and Techniplast as a part of this team was key to getting it right.”

The TurnKey Facility of the Year Award showcases new ideas and accomplishments in facility design, construction and operation. Aircuity’s demand control ventilation technology was applauded for its innovation and significant energy savings that it is providing the Neurological Research Institute. The 2012 TurnKey Awards were given by ALN Magazine, ALN World, and sponsored by Techniplast.
