Aircuity Promotes Dan Diehl to Chief Executive Officer

Aircuity, the safe, smart, and efficient airside solutions company announced today that Dan Diehl, Vice President of Global Sales, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective immediately. Diehl will replace Patrick Romich, who is a partner at Source Squared, Aircuity’s majority owner.

Aircuity Chairman James Wilson noted that this was a planned transition and an executive search had been underway during the past several months. “Pat has done a wonderful job leading Aircuity over the past three and half years, driving growth while focusing the business on the extraordinary value proposition of building information services that help our customers save energy and gain insight into the ongoing performance of their facility. We are grateful to Pat for his direct contributions to Aircuity, and we are thrilled that this change will make him more available to support other Source Squared opportunities.”

Romich assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in the fall of 2009, approximately one year after Source Squared acquired a majority ownership position of the company. “I had two big objectives when I arrived at Aircuity,” explained Romich. “The first was to help the company organize for rapid growth in terms of our assembly and calibration capacity, the second was to transform the culture and mentality of the company from being a hardware manufacturer to being an information solutions provider. I’m very proud of the entire company’s effort to deliver on both of these goals, and it’s clear that we are on a very positive trajectory.”

Advisor Services, a subscription based information platform for managing energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality, has helped grow the company’s service business since being introduced in early 2012. Recurring services have grown at a 40% annual rate over each of the past two years, reflecting the growing installed base and rapid penetration of Advisor subscriptions in new and existing customer projects. Aircuity’s operations capacity has grown by more than 100% over the past two years, with additional growth of nearly 25% expected in 2013.

Although the executive search included dozens of candidates from across the country, Wilson noted that the decision to promote Diehl to position of CEO was unanimously supported by the board of directors. “Dan played a major role in growing Aircuity’s business over the past four years, and his experience and familiarity with this market make him an excellent choice. We are confident that Dan is the perfect person to continue building on that success.”

Diehl joined Aircuity in November of 2008, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in the building controls and energy efficiency markets. Under his sales leadership, the company’s bookings grew by more than 70%, which included a significant increase in international business. “We have proven that airside energy efficiency is the ‘next big thing’ for universities, health care, research, pharmaceutical and commercial office building owners,” Diehl stated. “As the economy continues to show signs of recovery, we are poised for even greater growth in both new construction and energy retrofit projects.”
