VP of Operations: OPEN

We go to market through channel partners around the world, including Fortune 100 companies, under a buy-resell relationship.  Aircuity’s clients are leaders in their field and the company has installations in 17 countries and nearly every state in the US. This year marks our 20th anniversary and we expect to grow substantially over the next decade. Description:

The VP of Operations will report directly to the CEO and be included in senior level strategic management of the company.  In this role, primary responsibilities will be driving operational improvement of both our product assembly and the Assurance Services Calibration Lab in tandem with improving systems, process and quality.

Although Aircuity is 20 years old, we are in many respects a classic start-up that has grown organically and is now in need of scalable operational processes and systems to deliver high quality scalable growth through an increasing number of channel partners.

The position requires diverse manufacturing / assembly operations management experience including but not limited to strategic planning, quality systems implementation, performance monitoring and reporting, team building, capacity management, corporate compliance and internal and external customer communication.

This role will have an equity stake in the company and be rewarded for growth and our ultimate longer-term strategic positioning for the benefit of the private ownership group.

Role:

Operational Excellence:

Develops strategic operating plans and responds to changing business conditions, with an emphasis on customer satisfaction through continuous process improvement.
Evaluate operational processes and procedures with business analyst and develop strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations.
Control and report on operating costs and continuously look for methods of improvement.
Execute budget and resource planning for assembly operations. Monitor and perform within forecasted plan.
Resource management of employees, equipment, capacity and materials to achieve manufacturing goals.
Manage contracted manufacturers and continue to optimize use of outside services where appropriate.
Interface with OEM operational relationships.

Continuous Improvement:

-Driving and working with team members to deliver excellence through focus on process efficiency and other strategic manufacturing initiatives.
-Develop, drive and/or support initiatives to manage risk and improve processes related to safety, quality, cost, delivery and customer relations.
-Track key performance indicators that drive change and provide visibility to the manufacturing and leadership teams. Monitor routinely with active data analysis to target and drive results.
-As a member of the executive team, drive successful cross-functional initiatives, setting direction, engaging multiple parties, executing outcomes, and communicating to key stakeholders.

Strategic Leadership:

-Partner with all members of leadership to develop and execute on the short and long-term strategy for the organization and the development of action plans to deliver on commitments.
-Provide leadership for the overall operating performance of the business.
-Build relationships with key functional leaders and ensure that regular communication occurs with all departments to keep employees current on expectations and goals.
-Conduct regular meetings and discussions to optimize organizational practices.  Maintain accountability for teams and leadership.
-Set clear goals for management with measurable results.
-Create a customer-centric environment focused on exceeding client expectations with emphasis on quality and service.

Educational and preferred work experience:

Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience. MSME or EE is preferred, as is an MBA. OR equivalent experience including:

-Previous experience in related industry with hands-on operational management roles.
-Strong combination of business operations leadership, quality management, continuous process improvement and program management experience.
-Lean manufacturing, cycle time management, and cost reduction background

Expertise in Excel, MRP’s, Access and other manufacturing data base programs.

Experience in either implementation or upgrade of an MRP system and integration with financial systems (MAX preferred).

Strategic Account Manager, Western Region: OPEN

Role:

The strategic account manager will be primarily responsible for large account management and new business development within the defined territory through both direct and indirect sales efforts and across a wide variety of Aircuity’s vertical markets.   Business will include new construction, energy retrofit and ESCO.  Candidate will earn a base salary plus a sales commission on territory sales and key long term renewals. The position will be based in the Western region of the US.

This position has an impressive list of key existing clients including Apple, Google, Univ. of CA system schools and many top tier pharma companies across a large and diverse territory.

Responsibilities include:

3rd Party Sales Representative Recruitment & Management
Recruit sales representatives in defined territories who can deliver long-term sales growth and support of Aircuity’s product and service initiatives.

Market Coverage
“Major” markets are properly represented with adequately staffed reps firms
“Minor” markets are properly represented with adequately staffed rep firms

Rep Management
Establish and manage to yearly bookings goals & key objectives for each firm.
Work to increase sales efforts with non performing reps
Replace consistently non performing reps
Direct Sales Efforts to capture and/or grow strategic key accounts
Renew large Key Strategic Account Assurance agreements
Develop relationships with top 25 key influencers (Architects and Engineers)
Maintain key territory relationships with Utilities, ESCO’s and other third party partners that can assist in business growth.

Experience:

Desired 5 years of sales or account management experience in the built environment – HVAC and/or energy efficiency market place.
BS in engineering and Masters in Business Administration are preferred but not required
Sales training in Miller Hieman strategic, conceptual and large account management selling or similar is desired
Sales with Services and/or information services is a plus

Reporting:

Candidate will report directly to VP of Sales, currently residing in Chicago

Logistics:

Regular territory travel is required, likely in territory 3 to 3 ½ days per week per month.  Remaining time will be home office.  Territory includes all states west of and including the Rockies.  This will include Hawaii and Alaska.  (Canada is not included in this territory.)  Travel will be rep and business specific but not for general rep only meetings – these will be held via Zoom.

Occasional trips to East Coast may be needed for both internal and client training.

Earning Potential:

This position will earn a market competitive base salary and receive a sales compensation plan, uncapped starting from dollar one.

Overview:

Aircuity, Inc., a fast-growing technology leader in commercial building energy efficiency solutions, has an immediate opening for a talented Controller having the experience, leadership skills and a desire to work in a hands-on fashion. This position will play a critical role in supporting the doubling of our business in each of the next several years.

Aircuity is a leader in providing technology enabled commercial building energy efficiency. With the rising cost of energy and growing environmental concerns regarding greenhouse gas emissions, commercial building owners are challenged to find reliable technology solutions to help ensure that their buildings operate as energy efficiently and environmentally responsibly as possible without sacrificing occupant comfort, productivity or safety. Aircuity has combined an advanced building sensing technology with web-based building performance data acquisition & analysis to provide a building energy and environment information platform capable of supporting an array of energy performance solutions and services.

Controller is a central position with the company, involved directly in managing both financial and operational process and controls. The focus for this position is to provide management and support for Accounting and Operations teams, with a key involvement in seeking our tools and other best practices to enable growth. This position is instrumental in assuring an efficient operating environment for the Aircuity team, planning and organizing for many of the tasks that improve quality of life in this innovative and fast-moving business culture. This position reports to the CFO and is based at the company headquarters in Newton MA.

Essential Job Functions:

The controller manages accounting operations of the company, include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, building and supporting a comprehensive set of controls to mitigate risk, assure accuracy and GAAP compliance of the company’s reported financial results.

At Aircuity, the Controller will have deep domain expertise in accounting and financial planning as they relate to a combined service and product business model. They will have relevant experience in general business management, human resources, inventory management, order to cash cycle and related business systems.  They will maintain corporate registration, manage the annual audit and confirm that period tax filings are timely and complete.

We are looking for someone who enjoys a focused and creative work environment and has a reputation for demonstrating initiative. Controller will work closely with senior management and have daily interaction with staff, customers and suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions are timely and accurate
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
  • Prior experience in a service or manufacturing company.
