Here is an example of why having access to IAQ and energy savings data helps to maintain savings and create a healthier work or learning environment. One of our customers recently noticed when reviewing their Aircuity data that a lab was showing consistently elevated TVOC levels. This room was almost always showing high TVOCs regardless of the time which was driving substantially high airflow rates.
Upon review by the customer’s environment health and safety team, it was discovered that the cause was the trash can. Lab workers were disposing of rubbing alcohol (IPA) wipes, which were off-gassing into the space. The team plans to implement a solution by using a screw-top pail for the IPA wipes, which should help reduce emissions. They are also exploring other local measures to further mitigate this issue. Sometimes, a simple fix can make a big impact!
